PACIFIC REGION, 2 MAY 2013: The Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA) announced the winners of the World Tuna Day Art and Talent Quest today - a major new opportunity to showcase Pacific talent and passion for tuna.
First Prize (USD $3000) was awarded to Chelcia Gomese (Solomon Islands) for her short story “When seagulls soar the seas again” a beautiful fable about a community whose tuna were lost through unsustainable development then returned to their shores.

KOROR, PALAU, SUNDAY 3 MARCH 2013: Ministers of Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA) member countries renewed their commitment to strictly implement the Vessel Day Scheme, as they inked the agreement during the ministerial meeting on Friday.
According to PNA Resolution 01-2013, ministers of Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, and Republic of the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu agreed to a strict implementation of the VDS scheme.

Read morePACIFIC REGION 27 NOVEMBER 2012: The Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA) said countries must agree to protect whale sharks from fishing at next week’s Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) meeting in Manila, Philippines.
Each year the WCPFC brings together the Pacific Island countries, Asian nations, US, EU and other foreign fishers to meet and decide rules for fishing of tuna throughout the Western and Central Pacific Ocean, the world’s largest tuna fishery, supplying 50% of the global tuna supply.
